The fund raising committee for the new building has begun its fund raising efforts for our new station. The committee has be charged with writing for grants and coming up with fund raising ideas. On Wednesday May 14 the company held a Longaberger and Vera Bradley Basket Bingo Game. The committee cleared over $2,600.00, and had 114 people play during the games. The committee would like to thank those members that donated towards the cost of the baskets and also the refreshments and thank the 22 members that showed up to help that evening.

Towards the end of March 2008 the new building committee met with three potential architect firms interested in designing the new fire station. During the 5 hours the building committee discussed with each firm the company’s history and their ideas for our new building. Following the interviews the committee decided on the firm of Fern Clendaniel Architects. Fern Clendaniel is a fairly young company from the Wilmington area who has been very active in designing public education facilities. In our area they have designed the Smyrna Middle School, Sunnyside Elementary School, and are in the process of designing the major additions to Smyrna High School. The committee's recommendation was presented before the company by Chairman Wilson at the regular business meeting in April 2008 and was approved by the company to negotiate with Fern Clendaniel on the price to design the building. In the coming months the committee will meet with Fern Clendaniel to discuss a contract and begin designing the building.
